What is astrology, and how does it work?
Astrology is a symbolic language, a system for representing and analysing the movements of the heavens and their influence on our lives. It is fundamentally predicated on the principle that the universe forms one cohesive whole, and that what occurs in the whole is necessarily also reflected in its various parts. By reading the patterns in heaven, we can therefore see the influences that affect us on earth, too.
This principle is strongly connected to time. What is begun at a given moment in time, with the stars in specific positions, carries the influences of that formative moment. The beginning of a thing is the source of its life, and the source of its tendencies and the balance of influences that steer its development – the moment of the beginning tells us something important about the object of consideration, whether it is a person, a business, a journey, or even a question, as with horary astrology.
